A new vision of marriage as an evolving institution
Keywords:

The institution of marriage is fundamental for family stability, providing a legal framework that establishes rights and responsibilities between partners. However, same-sex marriage has sparked controversy, especially in states like Aguascalientes, where the Civil Code only recognizes the union between a man and a woman. However, same-sex marriage does not undermine this institution, but rather expands it, since legally recognizing this type of couples fosters equality of rights and dignity, strengthening social cohesion. In this way, same-sex marriage contributes to a more inclusive Mexico, where factors like sexual orientation don’t limit the access of rights.
