Abstract

This study seeks to understand how ninth-semester Psychology students at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes experience the impostor phenomenon, and to identify the emotions surrounding it. Drawing on Clance's concepts —feelings of fraud, inadequacy and persistent self-doubt—, it used visual-metaphor analysis through the drawing technique. The findings show that these young people experience the phenomenon as an external entity that stops and delays them: a weight, a burden or a voice that questions their achievements. The study concludes that visual metaphors are a useful tool for exploring this experience from the subjectivity of those who live it.
